Another day on Earth and no reason you have to listen to that same song over and over. Why not listen to my voice and here me share a “day in the life” moment. I like to hear my own voice.

It has been quite awhile since a “Stew for Lunch” program aired on the radio airwaves. 2012 is the year but even my memory for useless knowledge can’t pinpoint the date nor the month. Anyway, as I type this it should be quite apparent, I am a talker not a writer. I was never one to really script what I was saying sans a ad copy or proper dedication type situation. I present to you the viewer and hopefully listener the beginning of a renewed passion of broadcasting. Stay strong and bare with me as I square away the technical issues and vocal rust. My goal is to tape live as if I turn on the “On-Air” light and away I go.

Lawrence of Chicago joined the “Stew for Lunch” radio program. Pardon the hum and ignore any traffic or weather alerts. Also the song has been mostly edited out to cut down listening time.

The first thing I notice from this old file is that our station’s recordings suck from back in the day. Please pardon the slight hum in the recording. Enjoy this August 25th edition of Stew For Lunch. Commercial breaks have been remove and please ignore any traffic or any weather related news.

No producers and no phone monitors just myself talking to people and filling an hour of local radio broadcasting on AM 1230 WJOB.

1907 – Walter Johnson pitched his first major-league victory by leading the Washington Senators to a 7-2 win over the Cleveland Indians. Johnson won 414 games in his career.

1970 – Christine McVie joined Fleetwood Mac as the group’s first female member. McVie was married to bass player John McVie. She quit touring with the group in 1991.

1981 – After 128 years of publication, The Washington Star ceased operation. Only one daily newspaper remained to serve the nation’s capital: The Washington Post.
